122. "Tyrannosaur Canyon" by Douglas Preston

Tyrannosaur CanyonTyrannosaur Canyon is entertaining fluff, but Douglas Preston and his frequent co-author Lincoln Child are definitely better together than apart.

122. "Birth Marks" by Sarah Dunant

Birth Marks: A Hannah Wolfe Crime NovelBirth Marks is a sort-of-noir novel with the stereotypical wisecracking, commitment-phobic narrator, who is a reasonably likable but not very bright private investigator. I figured out a major plot point about 100 pages before she did, which is frustrating--when a character goes in circles and chases her tail in the pursuit of something that's obvious to the reader, you may have good comedy, but that's all.

121. "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" by Ann Brashares

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Sisterhood of Traveling Pants, Book 1)I didn't necessarily expect to like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and there were parts that pleasantly surprised me as a result. I definitely did not expect to shed copious amounts of tears, but did--over two of the four main characters' summers. The stories of the other two, coincidentally or not, dealt primarily with romance and first love in ways I found sometimes vague and often asinine. But the plot lines I found moving were satisfying, sad, and cathartic.

118-120. Books that shall not be named

Blooding by Joseph Wambaugh--

This one (Eragon) isn't necessarily bad, but it's not so compelling that i think it's worth my time and attention right now.

The Killers Next Door by Joel Norris, PhD, not up to his usual standard, even though i read the whole book. Think he died during the writing, thus the disordered, often chaotic and even incorrect writing--reads like a draft but not a final, in light of his other work.
